A brief history of the Choir

Victor Maslennikov - The Conductor The Girl´s choir «Raniza» (means Morning) was founded in year 1981 at Minsk, as its formation purpose was to provide access for highly talented musical children as a part of an educational process.

Since the year 1987 the choir has been leaded by «Victor Maslennikov», teacher at the chair of choir conductors in Belorussian State Teachers University. The choir consists of 35 young girls, aged between 15 to 35 years and each of our artists can play musical instruments. In 1991 the choir received the title “Obraszovyi” (Excellent Choir).

In 1991 the choir performed for the first time in the USA. Since that the choir been performing in many European countries including France, Belgium, Italy, Holland, Germany, Austria etc. In 1996 the choir received the title “Narodnyi Choir” (Best Country Choir).

The repertoire of the choir is very various. The choir sings a-capella as well as contemporary, classical, folk and church music. Now the choir is one of the leading choirs in Belarus. The young singers have toured in many European countries. Since 1998 till 2012 the choir won a number of prestigious national and international awards. The choir awarded best positions at competitions and festivals in France, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland etc.

Awarded 3rd position in the 29th International May Choir Competition in Varna (Bulgaria).

Placed 2nd position in the 25th International festival of Orthodox music in Bialystok (Poland).

Gorizia, Italy

1st Position in the International choral Competition “Seghizzi” in Gorizia (Italy).

Minsk, Belarus

Being awarded participation diploma in the International Orthodox church music in Minsk (Belarus).

Moscow, Russia

Price winner in 3 nominations of the 8 International Festival Competition in Moscow (Russia).

Marktoberdorf, Germany

Awarded participation diploma in the 8th International Competition of chamber choirs in Marktoberdorf (Germany).

Hajnowka, Poland

Won 1st Position in the International Orthodox music in Hajnowka (Poland).

Neerpelt, Belgium

Won 1st Position in the International Youth Festival in Neerpelt (Belgium).
